Cwpan Welsh Spiced Syrup – Dark, Warm, Nostalgic Flavour for Tea, Milk & Porridge | 500ml
What is Cwpan?
Inspired by the comforting flavours of Wales' traditional Bara Brith recipe , Cwpan is a handcrafted Welsh spiced syrup made to turn ordinary milk and tea into something that feels like home.
Our favourite ways to enjoy it:
🫖 Stirred into a proper milky cup of tea
🥛 With ice-cold milk (people call it an adult milkshake)
🔥 With hot milk (a Welsh answer to chai)
🥣 Drizzled over porridge
🍰 In cake batter or buttercream
🫓 On Welsh cakes
🍨 Over ice cream
🥃 Mixed with cream and whisky for a Welsh-style cream liqueur
What’s in your Cwpan?
Muscovado Sugar — rich, unrefined, with deep caramel and molasses notes. The backbone of its warmth.
Sultanas — plump dried grapes, soaked and steeped in, giving a natural fruity sweetness that refined sugar alone can’t match.
Blackstrap Molasses — the darkest, most mineral-rich kind. Adds depth, colour, and a slight bitter earthiness that stops it being simply sweet.
Orange Peel — bright citrus top notes that cut through the richness. The thing you can’t quite name but would miss if it wasn’t there.
Cinnamon — warm, woody, familiar. The first spice most people taste, and the one that makes it feel like home.
Cloves — intense and aromatic, used sparingly. The spice that makes a dark drink taste ancient.
Mixed Spice — the traditional British blend of coriander, cassia, ginger, nutmeg and clove. The same one your grandmother used. The taste of Welsh baking.
Nutmeg — a final whisper of warmth. The spice you only notice when it’s gone.
Filtered Water — nothing else. No preservatives, no artificial flavours, no E-numbers, no shortcuts.
A little goes a long way. One bottle is enough to transform dozens of cups of tea or glasses of milk.
